He belongs to the Patidar caste which is also known as Kurmi Kshatriya in Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Orissa, Chhattisgarh etc.

Priti Patel : She is a British Politician who is currently the Home Secretary in British Cabinet. Her grandparents were from Tarapur, Gujarat. She was born and raised in London. Seewoosagur Ramgoolam : He is the first Prime minister of Mauritius. His family has its origin from Bihar, India. He is an Alma mater of London School of Economics and University College London. His daughter name is Anupriya Patel, who later became the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare in Central Government. Smita Patil : She was an Indian film actress who had won several awards like Padam Shree, National Film award for best actress etc. in her career.
